Latest in Beauty - Glamor Box
I recently
saw someone review the Latest in Beauty – Glamor Box (whichbeautyboxuk.com she is brilliant), and decided that at £16.95, I
could treat myself.
I like a
good beauty box, and knew exactly what I was getting, but oddly enough felt
slightly let down when it had arrived, granted I had just been to the dentist, but
it was more than that. I wasn't excited as I opened it, because I knew exactly
what I was getting. For me, half the fun of a beauty boxes is; not really
knowing what you are going to get. Also, with other boxes you can personalise
your box, so they send you the correct shades. Anyway, enough of my moaning let
me share with you what I got!
I received:
Bourjois
Cream Blush: Shade 01 RRP £7.99
It had a
lovely texture, and glided on quick easily, but didn't blend as well wanted,
and I personally found it a bit pink, having rosy cheeks I prefer a deeper
shade.
Crabtree
& Evelyn Nail Lacquer: Apple RRP £6
This is a
lovely juicy red colour, but is one of those nail varnishes you can still see
dirt under your nail through, (please see picture below), I love this shade and
plan on using it on my toe nails this summer.
It doesn't last very well in a chlorinated pools.
Hawaiian
Tropic Satin Protection Ultra Radiance Sun Lotion: SPF30, Trial Size RRP £5.99
'Handbag'
sized product, which is useful as we should all carry suncream. I have always
been a big fan of Hawaiian Tropic products as they smell amazing, but are a
little on the expensive side for me. This product made my skin feel really
smooth. It smelt amazing and kept me protected. I would buy this product again,
I am very happy with it.
Illamasqua
Glamore Lipstick: Starkers RRP £18.50
Starkers;
what a cute name for a nude shade. This went on easily and didn't dry my lips
out; but it did just sort of sat on my lips, and I was worried about it
smudging. The tube it came in is sleek and black, its a good looking lipstick
and looks nice on, but doesn't really suit my skin tone.
DHC Deep
Cleansing Oil: Mini RRP £4.50
I was very
weary of putting an oil product on my face, I don't have oily skin, but I felt
like it would be... counterproductive. The leaflet provided said "Scared
of oil? Don't be, trust us". So I did. It smelt nice, but I had to use
quite a lot to cover my face. I rinsed it off, which took twice as long as
normal, and looked at my skin. It looked... very clean... I was as surprised as
the next person. I sat down to get on with my day, and my eyes started to feel
a bit sore, and then I felt my face, and it felt so dry! I had to apply
moisturiser twice to get my skin feeling normal. I am not happy with this
product at all and would not recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin.
Magnifibres
Brush-On False Lashes: RRP £21
I'm not
really sure what I was expecting with the product, but I opened the tube
thinking I would see something that looked like black metal filings and
instead was greeted with a brush covered in cobwebs.
The product
worked really well, I first put on my mascara (Buxom by bare essentials, I had
a sample from Sephora) added the cobwebs, waiting 60 seconds or so and then
added another coat. This product really works, my eyelashes looked great, (sorry
there's no picture, will try and post one at a later date).
Toni &
Guy Volume Plumping Whip: RRP £7.19
I am yet to
use this product, and have rather thick hair to start with, and will most
likely not use it, but give it to a friend. This product smells amazing, as a
lovely texture and I am sure would do a fab job.
Rimmel Sun
Shimmer Instant Tan BB Skin Perfector: RRP £6.99 & Velvotan, the Original
Tanning Mitt: RRP £2.99
I don’t use
fake tan, so I haven’t bothered with these products, I didn’t really look carefully
enough when ordering and thought it was the face BB cream. Either way, these
products will go to a friend
Over all, I am fairly happy with my box.
Often these boxes are hit and miss. I should have paid more attention before
ordering. I am very happy with the Magnifibres Brush on Lashes, the Nail
Lacquer and Hawaiian Tropic lotion. I quite like the lipstick and all the other
products will find a good home with my friends.
Hope you all enjoyed reading my first
review, please leave me feedback.
Have a lovely day
Mel
