Electronic Facial Review

Today, I had an electrical facial, (for more information on electrical facials please look at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrotherapy_(cosmetic) ).

(not me)

A friend is currently studying to become a beauty therapist, and doing a bloody good job of it, and I have volunteered myself for treatments. Today it was an electrical facial. My lovely mummy came with me. It was a really relaxing and interesting experience, and my skin looks amazing.

First things first, you answer some questions about your skin, the products you use on it and any problems you may have. Then your face is cleansed, exfoliated and looked at under a magnifying glass. After all this, my skin was all tingly (in a squeaky clean way) and I was excited to see what happened next.

I was given something to hold to help the electrical current circulate around my body, put tape over piercing I couldn't remove, and was warned that I may have a strong metallic taste in my mouth from my smiley piercing. Before the machine was turned on a nourishing gel was brushed over my face.

There are four different types of current that can be used during an electrical facial. The two I had were galvanic and high frequency.

Galvanic currents are constant. They help to break down dirt and nourish the skin. These currents help to allow the gel to really penetrate the skin and maximise its effectiveness. High frequency waves are alternated between low and high frequency waves, this treatment changes the oxygen in the air to ozone, (don’t worry, I am not sure what that means either), and has antibacterial properties,  it makes your face a bit warm and you have to wear a net across your face whilst the current is been rolled over your face. The high frequency roller also makes a noise, which is at first, a bit disconcerting; but doesn't hurt at all, it’s actually very relaxing.

After the electrical part is done, it’s time for a face mask. Unfortunately I had a slight reaction to the face mask I asked for it to be taken off. Instead of a mask, moisturiser was massaged in to my face and neck and I was almost purring but the time they'd finished. She put on some more moisturiser and we then spoke about aftercare (use a SPF if out in the sun and try not to wear make up for 24 hours).I handed a mirror to look at my skin. As I had just finished treatment the moisturiser was still sinking in, so it was all shiny but my skin looked so even, clean and clear.

This was a really amazing treatment. I would highly recommend treating yourself if you want.

I forgot to take a before photo, here is a photo of me after the facial, I had been home a few hours.

 Have a lovely day
