Challah Bread and Butter Pudding

Challah Bread and Butter Pudding

Challah Bread and Butter Pudding

This works better with slightly stale challah, and kids love it!

Preheat the over at 165c (Fan), 330f (fan)

Ingredients

2 cups of Milk
¾ Cup of Sugar
¾ Challah (medium)
4tbsp melted butter
3 eggs
½ cup chocolate chips (I use a mix of white, milk and dark)
Vanilla extract to taste

- Melt butter in Microwave
- Gently warm milk, in a large pan warm milk, I like to use a large, deep frying pan. A saucepan would work well too.
- Once milk is warm turn off heat but leave the pan on the hob
- Add the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla and whisk until smooth and incorporated. Leave to thicken slightly
- Slice challah in to small chunks and arrange in a lined dish.
- Scatter some chocolate chips.
- Repeat until you have run out of bread
- Poor custard mixture over until all bread is covered, and then leave 10 min’s to be absorbed
- Wrap tightly with tin foil
- Bake covered at 165c (Fan) for 50 min’s -
- Remove tin foil and cook for another 10 – 15 min’s, until golden brown

Best Served warm with vanilla ice cream J.
